NOTICE OF REGATTA

 

Weatherly Regatta

(A Capdevielle and Open Event)

Gulfport Yacht Club

1. RULES

 

The regatta will be governed by  the current revision of the Racing Rules of Sailing (rrs), by the prescriptions of  u.s. sailing association, and the gulf yachting association (gya) regulations for sanctioned events  (Capdevielle Only), the notice of regatta (except as any of those are changed by the sailing instructions or any amendments thereto.)

2. CHANGES TO THE RULES

 

The sailing instructions may change some of the racing rules; however, competitors will be able to comply with the changes without any advanced notice.

3. CLASSES

 

Capdevielle Flying Scots and Open Flying Scots.

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

 

4.1 The Weatherly Regatta is open to one boat from each GYA general member club, who will compete in accordance with the rules governing interclub competition for Capdevielle events (specifically Sections IV and V of the GYA Regulations for Sanctioned Events).

 

4.2 The Open Flying Scot Class is open to eligible competitors of FSSA and/or any general member GYA club.

5. REGISTRATION

 

Clubs entering the Capdevielle Class and individuals entering the Open Flying Scot Class must register at the Gulfport Yacht Club during the time set forth in the schedule of events.

 

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Sailing instructions will be available at the registration desk at the Gulfport Yacht Club.

8. SCORING

 

The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A4 of the current version of the Racing Rules of sailing will apply for the Capdevielle Flying Scots and the open flying scots, except that one race will constitute a series and ties for both the capdevielle and  Open Flying Scot class will be broken using appendix a8 of the rrs.   There will be no throw-out.

 

9. PRIZES

 

In the Capdevielle Flying Scots, the winning skipper and crew of each race will receive an award, as will the skippers representing the winning club overall.  In addition, marker trophies will be awarded to the top three clubs in the series.  In the Open Flying Scots, awards will be given to the skippers and crews finishing in the top five positions overall.
